Nutrition Coaching in Stirling

MNU Graduate.png

Know what you should eat…
but struggle to make it work in real life?

I'm Stuart McLay, an MNU Certified Nutritionist based in Bannockburn, Stirling.

I help people who are tired of starting diets, losing and regaining weight, feeling out of control around food, or simply knowing what they should do but struggling to stay consistent.

No banned foods.

No perfect meal plans you have to follow forever.

No pretending work, family, weekends and meals out don't exist.

Just personalised nutrition coaching designed to help you understand what's actually getting in the way — and build an approach that works in your real life.

So...

What do actually

need help with?

Nutrition coaching isn't just being told what foods are “good” or “bad”.

Most people I work with often already know quite a lot about nutrition.

The problem is making it work consistently in real life.

You might recognise yourself in some of these:

“I want to lose weight, but I'm fed up with constantly dieting.”

You've lost weight before. Maybe several times. The problem is keeping it off without feeling like you're permanently “on a diet”.

“I know what I should eat. I just don't seem to do it consistently.”

Knowing more isn't always the answer. Sometimes we need to work out what keeps getting in the way and build a better strategy around it.

“I'm good all week… then it falls apart.”

Weekends, meals out, alcohol, work, family life or a change in routine can make it feel like you're either completely on track or completely off it.

“Food takes up far too much headspace.”

Calories, guilt, hunger, cravings, trying to be “good”, then feeling like you've blown it. Sometimes the goal isn't another set of stricter rules, it's learning how to handle food differently.

“I just want to eat better and feel better.”

Not everyone comes to me with a target weight. You might want more energy, better habits, improved nutrition or simply some structure and accountability.

The first job isn't giving you another diet.

It's working out what's actually stopping you getting the result you want.

So what happens when you
work with me?

We don't start with a meal plan or a list of foods you're not allowed to eat.

We start with you.

What are you trying to achieve?

What's happening with your eating now?

What's worked before, and why didn't it last?

Where do things tend to go wrong?

Then we build a strategy around the problem we're actually trying to solve.

If losing weight is the priority...

We'll usually start with Fat Loss In A Flash.

It's a focused six-week phase designed to get your weight moving while actively managing things like hunger, food choices, meal structure and how the plan fits around your life.

You'll have a personalised nutrition strategy, regular 60-second WhatsApp check-ins and ongoing adjustments based on how you're actually responding.

Your first six weeks are £199.

But nutrition coaching doesn't stop at weight loss.

Making progress is one thing.

Being able to keep going when work gets hectic, you're eating out, going on holiday, your routine changes or motivation disappears is another.

That's why the longer-term goal of my coaching isn't to keep you permanently “on plan”.

It's to help you develop the skills and habits to adapt the plan when life changes.

Build habits that survive real life.

What does nutrition coaching actually look like?

You won't be handed a generic meal plan and sent away to get on with it.

Your coaching is built around your goals, your lifestyle and what's actually happening in the real world.

A personalised nutrition strategy

We'll agree an approach that gives you enough structure to make progress without unnecessarily restricting the foods you enjoy.

That might involve calories, protein, meal structure, food choices or other practical targets depending on what you need.

Quick, regular check-ins

My 60-second WhatsApp check-ins make it easy to tell me what's going well, and flag problems before they turn into another abandoned attempt.

We can look at things like hunger, adherence, energy and anything you're finding difficult.

Coaching when something isn't working

This is where coaching matters.

If you're constantly hungry, struggling at weekends, eating differently when you're stressed or simply not following the plan, we don't automatically respond by making the diet stricter.

We work out why it's happening and decide what to do next.

Sometimes we change the strategy.

Sometimes we solve a specific barrier.

And sometimes you just need some accountability to follow through on what we'd already agreed.

Learn how to handle real life

Meals out.

Holidays.

Busy weeks.

Takeaways.

Alcohol.

Family occasions.

You don't need a nutrition strategy that only works when nothing gets in the way.

We'll work on the skills to make decisions, adapt when necessary and get back to normal without feeling like you've “ruined everything”.

Nutrition & lifestyle education

I'll help you understand the things that actually matter, without expecting you to become a nutritionist yourself.

The goal is to gradually need less hand-holding, not more.

You can eat anything. You just can't eat everything.

What does this look like in real life?

Different people need different things from nutrition coaching.

“I was worried I was going to be starving.”

Siobhan started Fat Loss In A Flash apprehensive about the calorie target.

Six weeks later, she'd lost a stone, and the hunger she'd expected to struggle with hadn't been the problem she thought it would be.

That's not a promise that you'll never feel hungry.

It's an example of why I pay attention to how someone is actually responding, rather than assuming feeling miserable is simply part of losing weight.

“This has made me see
dieting completely differently.”

That was Johnny after we talked through his Fat Loss In A Flash strategy.

Sometimes the biggest change isn't another nutrition fact.

It's finally understanding how to approach the problem differently.

Lynzi was getting results, but it felt like a slog.

Rather than telling her to just keep pushing, we looked at what was actually happening.

She was sticking to her calories, but her food choices weren't helping her much.

So we changed the meals, gave it two weeks and watched what happened.

Something isn't working → work out why → make a decision.

That's what nutrition coaching should look like.

Food is only part of the picture.

Nutrition doesn't exist in isolation.

Your training, activity, sleep, stress, routines, work and family life can all affect how easy it is to actually follow through with what you're trying to do.

As an MNU Certified Nutritionist and Level 3 Personal Trainer, I can help you look at the bigger picture rather than treating food as though it's the only thing that matters.

Sometimes we need to look at calories.

Sometimes it's protein, hunger or meal structure.

Sometimes it's training or activity.

And sometimes the biggest problem is simply that the plan you've been trying to follow doesn't fit your life.

The aim isn't perfect nutrition.

It's an approach that gets you results while still letting you live like a normal person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to come to the gym for nutrition coaching?

No.

Nutrition coaching can be done remotely, so you don't need to live in Stirling or come to Hub Fitness for your check-ins.

If training is part of your coaching, we'll decide what makes sense based on your goals, experience and where you prefer to train.

Will you give me a meal plan?

Usually, no.

I'd rather help you build an approach you can actually use in normal life than give you a rigid menu to follow.

We'll agree the structure and targets that are useful for you, then work on making them fit around the foods you enjoy and the life you actually live.

Will I have to count calories?

Not necessarily.

Calorie tracking can be a useful tool, particularly during a focused fat-loss phase, but it isn't the only way to improve your nutrition.

We'll use the tools that make sense for your goal and situation rather than assuming everybody needs exactly the same approach.

Do I need to exercise as well?

You don't need to earn your food with exercise.

If weight loss is your goal, nutrition will obviously be important, but training can offer benefits far beyond simply burning calories.

If you want help with your training too, I'm also a Level 3 Personal Trainer and can build that into your coaching.

How much does nutrition coaching cost?

Your initial six-week coaching phase is £199.

If weight loss is your main priority, you'll usually begin with Fat Loss In A Flash.

After your initial six weeks, ongoing coaching continues through Body For Life, with the appropriate level of support for you.

What if I'm not sure whether I need Fat Loss In A Flash?

You don't need to diagnose yourself before getting in touch.

Tell me what you're trying to achieve and what you're currently struggling with.

We'll work out what the actual problem is and whether my coaching is the right fit.

You don't need to have it all figured out before you message me.

Maybe you want to lose weight.

Maybe you're fed up with starting diets and ending up back in the same place.

Or maybe you just know that what you're doing with food right now isn't working.

You don't need to know which programme you need.

Tell me what you're struggling with and we'll work out the most useful place to start.

No pressure. No hard sell.

Just a conversation about where you are now, where you'd like to get to and whether I can help.
