You’re Not Lazy. You’re Knackered

And that’s why your diet keeps falling apart.
Let’s just clear something up straight away.
You are not lazy.
You’re not weak. You don’t “lack discipline.”You’re not secretly addicted to biscuits.
You’re knackered.
And when you’re knackered, everything feels harder. Including the things you know would make you feel better.
The Lie You’ve Been Sold
Most of the fitness industry runs on one big assumption:
If you really wanted it, you’d just do it.
Train harder.
Track everything.
Push through.
Want it more.
But that advice only works when your energy is high, your stress is low, and life is calm.
When you’re:
Working all day
Parenting all evening
Sleeping badly
Mentally overloaded
Emotionally drained
“Just try harder” is useless advice.
Of course your diet falls apart at 8pm.
Of course you skip the gym when your brain’s fried.
Of course you say “f*ck it” after a long week.
That’s not laziness.
That’s low energy meeting high expectations.
Exhaustion Masquerades as Lack of Discipline
Here’s what actually happens.
You wake up already tired.
You spend the day giving energy to:
Your job
Your kids
Your partner
Your responsibilities
Everyone else
By the time it gets to you...
There’s nothing left in the tank.
And then you expect yourself to:
Cook perfectly
Resist cravings
Train hard
Be motivated
Be positive
That’s not discipline. That’s unfair expectations.
No wonder you feel like you’re constantly “failing.”
The Real Problem Isn’t Your Diet
It’s your energy management.
Most people are trying to lose weight on top of:
Chronic stress
Emotional overload
Poor sleep
Decision fatigue
Zero recovery
And then wondering why they can’t stick to the plan.
If your life already feels overwhelming, adding a rigid, perfection-based diet just tips you over the edge.
You don’t need more rules.
You need more energy.
This Is Why My Coaching Looks Different
Inside Body For Life, we don’t start with just “how can we make you eat less?”
We start with:
How can we lift your physical energy?
How can we protect your emotional energy?
How can we lower the pressure?
How can we build habits that don’t drain you?
Because here’s the truth:
When your energy improves…You naturally make better decisions.
You don’t need to fight yourself as much.
You don’t rely on willpower.
You don’t feel like food controls you.
You feel steadier. Clearer. More in control.
You’re Not Inconsistent. You’re Running on Empty.
Read that again.
You’re not inconsistent.
You’re trying to operate at 100% on a 30% battery.
And instead of charging the battery…You’ve been blaming yourself.
So What Should You Do Instead...
Start smaller than your ego wants.
Instead of:
“I’m going to train 4 times a week.”
Try:
“I’m going to move for 15 minutes, no matter how I feel.”
Instead of:
“I need to track everything.”
Try:
“I’m going to prioritise protein and water today.”
Instead of:
“I need to be perfect this week.”
Try:
“I’m not allowed to quit when I’m tired.”
Small standards. Low pressure. Consistent reps.
That’s how exhausted adults build momentum.
February Is Where Most People Quit
January runs on hype.
February exposes your energy.
If you’re reading this feeling behind already, good.
This is where we stop pretending motivation will save you and start building something that actually fits your life.
The Goal Isn’t Just Weight Loss
It’s to:
Feel human again after work
Stop emotionally eating every time you’re stressed
Walk into a room without feeling self-conscious
Stop feeling old before your time
Actually enjoy your evenings
Weight loss is a by-product of better energy and better standards.
Not the other way around.
